چکیده

Previous studies using gram-positive and -negative bacteria demonstrated that hydrolysis of silicon nitride (Si3N4) in aqueous suspensions elutes nitrogen produces gaseous ammonia while buffering pH. According to immunochemistry assays, fluorescence imaging, situ Raman spectroscopy, we demonstrate here the antipathogenic surface chemistry Si3N4 can be extended polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) by compounding it with a minor fraction (~8 vol.%) particles without any tangible loss bulk properties. The hydrolytic products, which were eluted from partly exposed at composite surface, exhibited fungicidal action against Candida albicans. Using specific nitrative stress sensing dye highly resolved micrographs, observed congestion peroxynitrite (ONOO?) radicals mitochondria cells PMMA/Si3N4 composite, these absent identical monolithic PMMA. These observations suggest mimics antifungal activity macrophages, concurrently produce NO superoxide anions (O2•?) resulting formation candidacidal ONOO?. properties composites could used dental appliances inhibit uncontrolled growth albicans ensuing candidiasis being synergic chemoprophylaxis. In follow-up previous gram-negative bacteria, containing Hydrolytic products Highly microscopy revealed synergy

Antifungal activity of alpha-mangostin against Candida albicans.

This study was conducted to examine the activity of alpha-mangostin against Candida albicans, the most important microorganism implicated in oral candidiasis. Its activity was compared to Clotrimazole and Nystatin. Results showed that alpha-mangostin was effective against C. albicans, the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) were 1,000 and 2,000 micr...

Antifungal activity of histatin-5 against non-albicans Candida species.

Fungicidal effects of histatin-5 against 26 oral isolates belonging to 5 non-albicans Candida species were examined. Fifty microM of histatin-5 killed more than 95% of Candida tropicalis and Candida guilliermondii isolates and more than 90% of Candida parapsilosis and Candida krusei. However, Candida glabrata was less sensitive to the peptide (mean 62.9%). Our results, taken together, demonstra...

In vitro activity of antifungal combinations against Candida albicans biofilms.

OBJECTIVES The aim of the present study was to evaluate the in vitro activity and synergism of the combinations of amphotericin B/caspofungin and amphotericin B/posaconazole against Candida albicans, grown either as planktonic cells or in biofilms. METHODS Ten C. albicans bloodstream isolates used in this study were collected from intensive care patients admitted to the Vienna University Hosp...

In Vitro Antifungal Activity of Equol against Candida albicans

In this study, we demonstrate that equol has fungicidal activities against Candida albicans. The minimum inhibitory and minimum fungicidal concentrations of equol against C. albicans were 516 and 1,032 µM, respectively. Two separate viability assays found that equol changed the integrity of the C. albicans cell membrane, possibly by formation of membrane lesions. Scanning electron microscopy de...

Antifungal activity of coronarin D against Candida albicans.

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to investigate the antifungal activity of coronarin D on Candida albicans and its activity was compared with clotrimazole and nystatin. METHODS Coronarin D was extracted by liquid chromatography and used in antifungal testing. The inhibitory effect of coronarin D on C. albicans was determined by cultures and an applied broth dilution test. The rate of...
